tip: Never cut corners on
travel insurance.
Don't forget the E111 form gives reciprocal cover in an EU
country, but it does not cover
the cost of getting you home in an emergency by air ambulance. Most policies have single
article limits of £200/£300 on, which will not cover the cost a of camcorders
etc. If you want high value items covered we would suggest that they are
added to your home insurance as an "all risks" item. Please take
extra care when on holiday, a theft or accident can ruin a trip, nobody
wants to spend hours in a police station or hospital, and its even worse
if you can't speak the language. Have a great holiday or expedition -
millions do every year. Don't leave your home address visible on your baggage. Keep all valuables, passports and money on you. Never pack these items in checked in baggage. When you get to your destination, check that the tap water is safe to drink. To be sure, drink bottled water and avoid ice drinks.
Check that the electrical fittings and heaters etc. in your hotel room are safe, health and safety standards are not always to the same standard we have in the UK. Remember the sun may be more powerful than at home especially near or on the water. Use high factor sun screen. Be careful
particularly to protect children.
Never leave belongings unattended or with strangers, especially at airports, stations, on the beach or places of entertainment, or unattended in a vehicle.
At your hotel, keep valuables and cash in a safe deposit box or in the hotel safe. Please remember that you must obtain a police report in the event of any loss or theft. Original documents are required in order to settle your travel insurance claim. Please make sure you photocopy them
before you send them to the claim adjustors. |
